Nature Preserves in northwest Michigan

Here are just a few.

Elisabeth Par Nature Preserve (5 acres)

Off M-22 north of Frankfort go left on Ness Rd. and follow it to the dirt turnaround at the end.  A short trail leads to a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan and 400 feet of shoreline. There is also a small hardwood forest.

Pear Lake (250 acres)

Outside Honor turn left on 669 at the fish hatchery and immediately turn right on Almira Rd. (610).  About 2 miles on is Rayle Rd. (dirt) go right and go about a 1/2 mile to the iron gate.  Park and follow the two track to the lake.

Railroad Point Natural Area (61 acres)

M-115 out of Frankfort to Mollineaux Rd. and go left.  Railroad Point Natural Area is 1/2 mile down the road.  Look for a small dirt parking area on the right.

Terrific Towns are perfect places to visit when you need a break from the fun stops on the back roads.  Not just fun destinations, these are pro-active towns that are great places to live.  Bellaire - Central Lake - Manistee - Frankfort
