Harrisville and the Lost Gold Mine

While Harrisville Michigan is full of treasures, not all of them are still to be found.  The  legend is that Thomas and Albert Fleming discovered gold while digging a well back in 1912.  Nuggets were produced, a company was formed and stock was issued and sold at $25.00 per share.

As luck would have it the mine was lost to an explosion and invading water or so the legend says.  No gold was produced and the whereabouts of the mine became a matter of speculation.  You can track this legend down if you visit Alcona county and Harrisville, a terrific town in Michigan.
