Barbed Wire Museum - Leslie, Museum
Head south on the main street in Leslie and go west on Mill
St. This will turn into Fitchburg Rd. and just outside of town at 1800 Fitchburg
Rd., you will find the remarkable work of one man, Gordon Latz.
At this date, this is only the third museum in the nation that is dedicated to barbed wire. Even a brief visit will surprise you when you find more than 400 different barbed wire designs on display. Two of the more unusual specimens are a Canadian railroad wire that has 18 wires wrapped in copper and wooden barbed wire from Australia.
The barbed wire museum structure is an
accurate recreation of a 1926 country store. Among the
vast array of barbed wire samples are razor wire, Korean War
wire, lightning rod wire, WWII hard steel line, red barbed
wire and barbed chain link wire.
The museum also features many tools and objects that are yet
to be identified.
Barbed Wire Museum No. 3 is the third known barbed wire museum in the U.S. The others are located in Lacrosse Kansas and McLean Texas.
