Ionia State Recreation Area
Combine the 160 acre Sessions Lake with
the Grand River, Tibbets Creek with camping and hiking
trails and you have all the makings for a great day in the
out of doors. That is just the beginning at the Ionia
State Recreation Area. There are 4,500 acres of lakes,
meadow, forested ridges providing a beautiful setting for a
Michigan day trip.
Camping - 100 campsites with all of the amenities and a 47 site horse campground.
Picnic - for a day trip there is the Beechwood picnic area near the boat launch on Sessions Lake.
Fishing - Sessions lake is a man-made 140 acre lake with a wide variety of Michigan species. There is a no-wake speed limit.
Trails - there are 15 miles of equestrian trails as well as, trails suitable for mountain biking, cross country skiing and snowmobiles.
In addition, you can find all kinds of wildflowers and a large bird population. Pets love this park as much as people do.
