Orchard Country
The
map shows just a little of another surprising feature of the
southeast of Michigan. This is what I call Orchard
Country. In a part of Michigan that many think of as
solid urban sprawl, there is a series of trails, roadside
stands, gorgeous small towns and some of the best fruit
farms and orchards in all of Michigan.
The area I call Orchard Country is roughly centered around Almont with Metamora in the west and Armada in the east. This area is home to more than 25 festivals and fairs. more than a dozen orchards and farmers' markets and nearly two dozen parks, nature centers and trails.
If you get tired of having fun outside, there are nearly a dozen museums and art galleries, as well as, great shops in every one of these unique towns.
