River Lake Inn - Colon Michigan - Hummingbird Trails
Open All Year
River Lake Inn Hosts, Marv and Anita Bliss, have created a wild life sanctuary since opening the restaurant in 1976. Spring time is marked by the arrival of the Purple Martin colony. April through September you can enjoy the Hummingbirds swarming to the windows and feeders. July and August the Butterflies are flooding the gardens. October through March you can enjoy the deer herd that frequents the grounds under the lights.
There are three distinct dining rooms,
each with its own atmosphere and there is a deck that is
open when weather permits.
A stroll past the Koi Waterfall Pond into the beautifully
landscaped Butterfly Gardens and Blue Bird Trail is a must
but, if you’re not up to the mile walk, just venture out to
Marv’s well stocked Bird Store.
"Chef Mark", has been with the inn since the beginning and has created a wonderful menu. Two categories deserve special attention. One is the FRESH seafood including French escargot with garlic and the other is the variety of home-made desserts.
The River Lake Inn is just over an hour from Detroit, Grand Rapids or Lansing. www.riverlakeinnrestaurant.com
