Stone Wall Pumpkin Festival - Rochester Hills

Always In October at the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm

pumpkins and scarecrowsEvery October they get busy carving pumpkins at the Museum at Van Hoosen Farm in Rochester. Thousands of people show up to take part in the pumpkin carving, pumpkin bowling and general mayhem. When the carving is finished, as many as 1,000 pumpkins are perched on the historic stone walls surrounding the museum. Then each of the pumpkins is lit up and the night comes alive.

There is more to enjoy on this festival day. Local businesses and and organizations get in on the fun through the Scarecrows in the City event. Original and whimsical scarecrows created by local organizations are on display at the museum during the festival. Then they are moved to downtown Rochester and remain on display through October 31. There is even a scarecrow building workshop to help put the whole thing together.
