Alcona Arts Retreat - September 5-8, 2013
Come to the Alcona Arts Retreat, where you can revel in nature's beauty, make new creative friends and find inspiration in workshops with one of eleven experienced, enthusiastic instructors in visual arts, writing and music.
Spend a long weekend close to nature in Alcona County, one of the best-kept secrets along the Lake Huron shoreline, as you sharpen your skills in digital photography, hammered dulcimer, oil painting, songwriting, quilted thread painting, flute, pastel painting, classical strings, writing poetry, folk dance or watercolor painting.
Your experience begins with a welcoming wine and cheese mixer Thursday night, extends for six workshop sessions through Sunday afternoon and includes a dance Saturday night and a cookout at noon Sunday. Come join like-minded artists in a wonderful way to greet fall.
The center of the activities will be Lost Lake Woods Club, a private residential community with more than 10,000 acres of woods, plentiful deer and other wildlife, five small lakes, a lodge, a dining room, a golf course and more.
The club itself has many scenes worth capturing; for instance, the photograghs of the whitetail deer and lakes in the PDF, were both taken on Lost Lake Woods property. The workshops will also visit other scenic spots around the county, such as, Sturgeon Point Lighthouse on Lake Huron.
Participants may choose to stay at the Lost Lake Woods lodge, take a room at one of the county's five bed and breakfast inns, or camp at the club or in nearby attractive campgrounds. Spouses or families of participants are welcome and may fish, golf and use other Lost Lake Woods facilities, or go exploring around the county.
