Allegan is described as a quaint and charming town along the Kalamazoo River. Shopping and food is within walking distance of the DeLano Mansion Inn. Antiques, quilting, candy, gifts are all items you will find in the downtown area. Shows may be seen at the Griswold Theatre next door to the Carnegie Library or see a movie in the Regent Theatre, then walk along the river on the river walk seeing fountains in the summer in the river.
Walk to the shops, offering antiques, art galleries and studios, coffee and book stores, and the best chocolates and sweets in the area.
Day 1: Downtown Allegan - Explore the many wonders that downtown Allegan has to offer. Start with a long walk along the Kalamazoo River walkway finishing at the beautiful Iron Bridge. Continue on to the Baker Art Gallery and the Little Shop of
Hoarders for artistic treasures both new and old. Take a break on your way back to the Inn at Mug Shots with a unique coffee experience. Upon return to the Inn, join other guests for a game of croquet and a s'more by the fire pit or in the winter work on a puzzle and play a board game.
Day 2: Windmill Island - Take the short drive to Holland, Michigan where you can enjoy a famous windmill and the local shops. Enjoy a dinner cruise of Lake Michigan for a formal introduction to the natural elements that make Michigan one-of-a-kind. Upon return to the Inn, relax and enjoy a hot chocolate on the front porch or in the large parlor.
Day 3: Crain and Fenn Valley Winery - Drive the short distance to Fennville, Michigan for a wine tasting experience like no other. Continue on to Saugatuck to enjoy light shopping and a delicious lunch on the water at any of the unique eateries. Take a final stop at South Haven, on your way back to the Inn, to enjoy a self guided tour of a local light house.
Return to Allegan for dinner and a relaxing night in your room's jacuzzi.
