Shack Getaway - White Cloud, Michigan
On beautiful Robinson Lake - www.theshackbedandbreakfast.com
This is the getaway for those who want to "get away from it all" in a quiet and secluded place yet, have shops, attractions and dining close at hand just in case. If you are after more than just relaxation, there are unique attractions in this area that you simply will not find in most rural counties. A thorough exploration of the surrounding area can fill several days. A scenic back roads drive is part of the getaway. Robinson Lake and the Shack in Jugville are just 44 Miles from Muskegon, 65 Miles from Grand Rapids, and 35 Miles from Big Rapids, Michigan.
After a relaxing back roads drive, this spot on Robinson Lake offers summer activities include hiking, swimming, fishing, riding paddle boats, sitting on a covered porch, or just relaxing by the lake. The flower gardens are a special treat and the trails are great for bird watching. You could just stay at the Shack enjoying the delicious meals they serve. Then have fun on the trails for walking and hiking, paddle boats, gazebos and country porches, reading and relaxing, billiards, ping pong, shuffleboard, exercise room, more relaxing at the fireside, a visit to the on site museum, and banana splits every night.
Day 1 - Nature Day – Loda Wildflower Sanctuary or Coolbough Creek Trails
Day 2 - Museum Day - Shrine of the Pines
Day 3 - Exploration Day -
Croton Hardy Dam - Sailor Pines - River Stop Cafe
Along The Way -
Starry Night Skies Observatory
Winter Fun - Relaxing by the fireplace is my recommendation but, the pristine wilderness and scenic hiking paths are great for cross country skiing and snow shoeing. It is a little wild out there as there are no groomed trails in Newaygo county. In addition to the trails at The Shack and Coolbough Creek, there are numerous other trails nearby, such as, the famous North Country Trail Network, Loda Lake Wildflower Sanctuary, Hungerford Lake Trail, and Branstrom Park.
Back Roads Lodging - The Shack, an old fashion country resort, is nestled in 100 acres of woods on the banks of the lovely Robinson Lake in the small town of Jugville just a few miles west of White Cloud.
