This is one of the best small town museums in all of Michigan. There are thousands of artifacts here that tell the story of the unique history of copper country, the Porcupine Mountains and a couple of genuine mysteries. One mystery is a tool that was found in a nearby mine. This tools only known use was for repairing sailing rigs on Viking vessels. Another is a very strange sculpture of a head.

The museum has an excellent gift shop and the staff is very knowledgeable.
