The
Les Cheneaux islands have been the site of rich Great Lakes history.
The museum is housed in a relocated 1920's boathouse. You can
view restorations, photos, sailboats, rowboats and more including a
boat-building shop.
Volunteers have built a replica of a Mackinaw boat, the standard means of transportation before roads were improved. Its double-ended design allowed boats to be easily beached in storms.
