Leslie, Michigan.
Leslie
Michigan also represents the best of Michigan. This
small town is close by all of mid-Michigan and offers
activities and events all year. If you decide to go
during a festival, try to have time to see the shops
downtown and enjoy some of the treats that are cooked up
there.
There is an oddity about Leslie recorded in the book "Michigan, A Guide to the Wolverine State" published in 1941 as part of the WPA project. North Leslie was part of the Village of Leslie. Rice's Creek ran along the western edge and there were Indian Mounds covering some 15 - 20 acres. A human skull was dug up there that was too large for any hat that could be found to fit it. There was also a thigh bone that was three inches longer than that of the tallest man in the village. There were also impressive earthworks in the region.
