Orangeville, Michigan
Orangeville, Michigan is
hidden away in central Barry County in a region that is
rather different from most of lower central Michigan.
Situated in the foothills some call the mini-appalalachia
mountains of southwestern Michigan, Orangeville is home
to a few thousand and a Michigan vacation destination
for thousands more in every season of the year.
The area has been a vacation destination for over 100
years. Spread around this picturesque region are
numerous natural beauty spots. The local
businesses welcome visitors all year with festivals and
events designed to make your visit so enjoyable that you
will want to come back often.
The most outstanding feature of the area has to be Gun Lake. Originally 5 small lakes, Gun Lake was formed when the Gun River was dammed and now covers over 2500 acres. Opportunities for fun abound all through the area. Good food is served up by the local restaurants. Camping, fishing, hiking and winter sports welcome the outdoors enthusiast and there are very cool shops scattered throughout the area.
The hills and valleys of the area make this a great destination for a Michigan road trip just to see the colors in fall.
History has been written here since before the Europeans arrived. Native tribes knew the area well. The Jesuits, lumbermen and farmers all found their way here.
