Michigan Attractions

Tawas Michigan.

bayTawas Point helps define Tawas Bay which has shaped the history and development of the twin cities of Tawas City and East Tawas.  Though they share a name, the coast of Tawas Bay and close proximity, these two towns have distinct personalities.  The breathtaking beauty of this region brings visitors from far and wide in all seasons.

Festivals are going on year round and include participation in the Lighthouse Festival, winter ice swimming and Perchville which is one of the longest running festivals in northern Michigan.

The historical museum is full of treasures.  Tawas Point Lighthouse has been a fixture for 100+ years.  There is even the story of the Ghost of La Salle on a local lake.

While everyone who visits is delighted by the beauty of Lake Huron and the Sunrise Coast, there is another attraction in this region that adds another whole dimension, the trails.

West of town are several trail systems for hiking and cross country skiing.  The Hoist Lakes Trail System will offer a challenge for even the expert adventure skier.  There are 10,000 acres and over 20 miles of excellent trails.  The Corsair Trail System is in Silver Valley within the Huron National Forest.  The great thing is the forest itself.  The beauty of the snow-laden trees and the distant vistas is unparalleled.  The Highbanks Trail System follows the AuSable River making it one of the most scenic in the midwest.
