Vicksburg, Michigan

street scene vicksbutg michiganNestled along the shores of beautiful Sunset Lake, Vicksburg has captured the charm of a 19th century village.

With the turn of the century street lighting and the tree-lined inlaid brick sidewalks, downtown Vicksburg is the starting point for exploring the many shops and hidden treasures that give this town its unique quality of life and the sense of welcome in the air.

Vicksburg Depot Museum occupies the former Grand Trunk rail depot and is the main building for what has become an Historic Village Museum.  The village celebrates the impact that railroads had in the development of Michigan and the continuing influence on Vicksburg life today.  There are several buildings now, displays of equipment and a working garden.

When you are finished touring the Historic Village you can enjoy the Farmer's Market across the street on Saturdays and the Vicksburg Recreation Trail enters a wooded area near the lake at this point.

The Vicksburg recreation trail was built on land reclaimed as part of the "rails to trails" program.
