Historic Shiawassee Getaway

Two themes keep repeating as you explore the Michigan region known as, Historic Shiawassee, the natural beauty along the Shiawassee River, and the history of the railroads. Places to visit include an Historic Village, Castle, Train Depot, Art Exhibits, Performing Arts Theatre, and a museum with the largest sleigh and carriage collection in the mid-west. As you travel from town to town, there are historic homes, vintage barns, miles of trails, and a number of nature preserves.  The Shiawassee County Historical Museum maintains collections of written records and artifacts from across the entire county. Each of the principle towns in Shiawasee County offers shopping and dining options, and each has one or more unique historical destinations to explore. Corunna has the Historical Village. Durand has the Union Station and Railroad History Museum. Owosso has Curwood Castle Park. There is more to discover in each community. For those who love Michigan history, Historic Shiawassee is a destination to return to again and again.
