Northeast Michigan

A Michigan back roads day trip to northeastern Michigan can easily turn into Michigan back roads getaway. Unusual and interesting destinations are all around. Uncrowded golden sand beaches, pristine forest trails, sparkling lakes and rivers are the characteristics that define Michigan along the shore of northern Lake Huron.  Historic lighthouses dot the shoreline.  Museums preserve unique history of the region.  Small towns thrive with unique downtowns and a slower pace. This region is roughly north of Clare and east of I-75.
